CineMaterna

About Us

CineMaterna are special movie sessions for mothers and their babies up to 18 months. Daddies and other caregivers are also welcome!

The films are for the grown-ups, and the screening room is baby-friendly: low volume and air conditioning, dimmed lights, stroller parking, changing tables with complimentary wipes and diapers, so that no one misses a part of the movie! The films are chosen by the audience a week before.

After each session, the families are invited to join the group for a snack in a nearby café, to chat about motherhood and other aspects of their lives.

The screenings happen from twice a week to once month, depending on the city, on Tuesdays or Thursdays, at 2 pm. Once a month there´s a movie session on a Saturday, 11 pm, in some cities.

The initiative is run by a NGO in partnership with several nationwide theatre circuits in more than 10 Brazilian cities. The mission of CineMaterna is to bring social life back to recent mothers, through a cultural pastime.
